Overview
Don’t you just love places where you immediately feel at home? Where sophistication married with simplicity creates an atmosphere that is truly memorable? Where the fusion of setting and service actually enhances your stay? Welcome to Frances Lodge a boutique B & B in Windsor … we hope you’ll have a wonderful time.
Contemporary comfort and convenience reign, with relaxed minimalism in perfect harmony with the original architectural features. Each of the ten en-suite bedrooms are luxuriously appointed, while on the ground floor you can kick back with the morning papers or chat with other guests in the open-plan communal lounge and dining spaces.
There’s even the potential of a healthy breakfast al-fresco on the deck to the rear!
Set within the ‘Golden Triangle’, a network of streets close to the Castle and the Great Park, where the great and the good of Windsor choose to live, Frances Lodge may look like a traditional Victorian villa, but inside, it has been transformed.
Description & location
Just a few minutes’ walk from the Lodge, Windsor town centre nestles in the shadow of the magnificent castle, with the Long Walk leading off into the lush scenery of the Great Park. Across the river, Eton, seat of learning for the great and the good, is chock-full of quaint distractions.
But both towns’ modern attractions are as legend as their history. High street stores, designer boutiques, antiques and art, culture and cuisine – it’s no coincidence that thousands of tourists visit the Borough every year. At night, Windsor town centre positively hums with activity, with the theatre, cosmopolitan bars, street cafés and nightclubs all reverberating with laughter and music.
Across the Park, Royal Ascot is worth a flutter, and you might catch a chukka at Guards Polo Club. Beyond that, there are many delightful towns and villages to explore in the surrounding area: Marlow, Cookham and Henley-on-Thames to mention but a few. And hop on a train and you could be in Richmond-upon-Thames in half an hour, or in the centre of London not long after.
